assembly instructions

Please read each step carefully before carrying out the task

  1. Place the silver adjustable base on a work table or floor upside down and front edge forward. If you look inside to the left and right outer edges you will see two silver screws at either side. Remove these in turn and the sides of the base unit will easily come off revealing two allen keys again, one at either side situated towards the front of the interior of the base, do not remove these allen keys at this stage. Turn the base unit back upright and gently place it on the floor, also making sure that you have placed the side covers and screws safely to one side for use later.
  2. Now take the aluminium, collapsible pole provided (which has an elastic core) and make it up to its full size by fixing the segments together, one inside the other, until completed. There is a double sided ‘hook’ integrated into one end of the pole, this end is the top of the pole. Place to one side.
  3. You can now attach the header clip attachments one to each graphic. Your first graphic needs to be placed face down onto a work table or clean floor. Open the graphic header clip attachment to a suitable width and angle and insert the top edge of the graphic in to it ensuring that it is aligned so that the graphic will hang straight. To hold the graphic securely in place, press the header clip back together until it lays flat. This will now be totally secure and in place. Turn the graphic over.
  4. To attach the other header attachment to your second graphic, just repeat the procedure in step 3.
  5. Looking down on to the base of the unit you will see that there is, coming out of the centre, two ‘strips’ or narrow sheets of plastic that run the full length of the base. The ‘strips’ are attached to two rollers, laying one at the back and one at the front, inside the base. These rollers are spring loaded and once activated enables the attached graphic banner to work in the same way as a roller blind, so that the banner rolls in and out (up and down) from the base as required.
  6. The strips act as a feeder/ attachment sheet, and it is on these that you will attach your graphics, in turn, by removing the waxed backing sheet on each strip, to reveal a band of adhesive. You are now ready to attach your first graphic to the front, plastic strip on the base unit.
  7. Peel off the wax backing sheet from the plastic strip and place the bottom edge of the graphic (picture forward) to it, making sure it is correctly aligned, on to the strip, and by running your hand over that edge smoothly, fix it in place. You can, if necessary, secure the banner to the strip even more by placing a band of strong self-adhesive tape over the bottom front edge of the graphic on to the plastic strip. Once again place the graphic carefully on the work table or ground.
  8. It is time to activate the roller system that will allow the graphic to ‘roll’ up and down when being set up for display. This is achieved in the following way: Go to the base unit and hold the plastic strip with the bottom of the graphic attached to it, and pull them (now as one) taut over the base in an ‘upward and over’ type manoeuvre keeping the graphic rigid and taking up the tension on the roller inside the base. Now, while holding this in place, locate the allen key responsible for the front roller (this was uncovered in step 1 and is situated at the side of the base unit, towards the front). Remove it (tension must be maintained on the graphic/plastic strip at all times while this is taking place).
  9. Once the allen key has been removed, the plastic strip with the bottom of the graphic attached must be carefully and slowly fed into the base, allowing approx 4 to 6 cm intake initially and using a ‘to n fro’ motion, making sure that the graphic is feeding in correctly until it almost fully rolls into the base unit, the top graphic header attachment will stop it feeding in completely.
  10. To attach the second graphic to the rear plastic strip and activate that mechanism repeat the procedure in step seven, eight and nine again. You can now carefully replace the side covers and screws back on to the base unit.
  11. Now that the graphics are attached, the mechanism activated and the base unit side covers back in place, you can erect the pole in the base unit. Insert the bottom of the pole into the hole that can be found in the centre in the base unit. The ‘hook’ (found at the top of the pole) should be facing forward and back not side to side.
  12. This done, all that remains is to draw, in turn, each of the graphic header attachments and graphic, up and out from the base unit and secure them to the already erected tall pole in the centre of the base.
  13. Locate, at the back of each of the graphic headers a groove that runs the full length of the head. The groove fits onto the ‘hook’ at the top of the vertical pole. Place in turn, each of the graphic heads + graphic centrally onto each ‘hook’ and your banners and stand are now complete.
